Know before you go
It does not work in the United States, Canada or the Caribbean — for the US or Canada, buy a single-country plan. Distance and terrain are the other limit: rural Patagonia, the Amazon basin and remote Andean routes have thin coverage on any network, local or eSIM.

Does the Americas eSIM work in the US or Canada?
No. It is a Latin America plan: it covers Mexico, Central America and South America (the full list is on this page), but not the United States, Canada or the Caribbean. For the US or Canada, buy a single-country plan for that part of the trip.
Will the eSIM work for a US and Mexico trip?
Only in Mexico. It does not cover the US, so use a US plan for that leg. Some US home carriers (T-Mobile, for example) already include Mexico data, so check your home plan first.
Is coverage reliable in remote parts of South America?
In cities and along main routes, yes. In genuinely remote areas — Patagonia, the Amazon, high-altitude Andean routes — coverage is thin on every network, eSIM or local SIM alike. Treat those stretches as partially offline and download maps in advance.
Do I need a separate eSIM for the US?
Yes. The Americas plan does not cover the United States, so buy a single-country US eSIM for the US part of your trip.
