Network coverage in Colombia
Your Travelren eSIM runs on Tigo, one of Colombia's main networks, on LTE. Coverage is good in Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali and Santa Marta, and in the coffee-region towns of Salento, Filandia and Manizales.

It gets patchier in the mountains and on the coast beyond the towns. Tayrona National Park has weak or no signal once you're on the trails, the Rosario Islands off Cartagena vary from island to island, and remote areas such as the Lost City trek and the Amazon around Leticia are largely offline. Colombia plans need their APN entered by hand as globaldata. The plans are capped, from 1 GB to 5 GB.

Arriving in Colombia
Most international flights land at Bogotá's El Dorado (BOG), with others arriving at Medellín's José María Córdova (MDE) and Cartagena (CTG). Migración Colombia's Check-MIG form is officially optional, but airlines often ask to see it, so it's worth completing online between 72 hours and an hour before your flight.

Colombia uses the peso (COP). Cards work in hotels, larger restaurants and shopping centres, while taxis, markets, small shops and street food are cash. Use ATMs inside banks or shopping centres. Bogotá sits at about 2,600 metres, so take the first day slowly, and domestic flights are the quickest way between regions.
Installing your Colombia eSIM
Install your Colombia eSIM on WiFi before you fly, scanning the QR code from your order email (iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, Add eSIM; Android: Settings, SIM manager, Add eSIM). Then set the APN to globaldata in the eSIM's mobile data network settings, as Colombia plans don't do it themselves. On arrival, choose the eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it.

Common questions
Which network does the Travelren eSIM use in Colombia?
Tigo, on LTE. It covers the big cities and main tourist towns. After installing, set the APN to globaldata in the eSIM's mobile data settings, or data won't start. Your order confirmation shows the APN too.
How do I set the APN for Colombia?
On iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, choose the Colombia eSIM, Mobile Data Network, then enter globaldata as the APN. On Android: open the eSIM's Access Point Names, add a new APN and type globaldata. Save and select it, then restart the phone if needed.
How much data do the Colombia plans include?
They're capped, from 1 GB for 7 days up to 5 GB for 30 days. That covers maps, messaging, ride-hailing and bookings for most trips. If you stream or video call a lot, use hotel WiFi for those, or choose a regional plan with more data.
Will I have signal in Tayrona National Park?
Near the entrances and in nearby towns, often yes. On the trails and at the beaches inside the park, signal is weak or absent. Download maps and let someone know your plans before you go in.

How much does Telstra charge to roam in Colombia?
Colombia is in Zone 2 of Telstra's International Day Pass: A$10 a day with 2 GB of data a day, checked September 2026. AT&T's International Day Pass is US$12 a day. A Travelren plan is one payment for your trip.
When does my Colombia plan start?
When your phone first connects to a network in Colombia. You can install the eSIM and set the APN at home, and the days begin when you land.
Do I need to fill in the Check-MIG form?
Migración Colombia describes it as optional, but many airlines ask for it before boarding, so completing it is the safer choice. It's free on the official site and opens 72 hours before your flight.
Do I need cash in Colombia?
Yes, for taxis, markets, street food and small shops. Cards work in hotels, larger restaurants and malls. Withdraw pesos from ATMs inside banks or shopping centres rather than standalone machines on the street.
