Network coverage in Mauritius

Arriving in Mauritius
All international flights land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International (MRU) in the south-east, about an hour's drive from the resorts of the north and west coasts. Mauritius uses the rupee (MUR).

Installing your Mauritius eSIM
Install your Mauritius eSIM on WiFi before you fly by scanning the QR code from your order email (iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, Add eSIM; Android: Settings, SIM manager, Add eSIM). Then set the APN to e-ideas in that line's mobile data network settings, because Mauritius plans don't set it themselves. On arrival, choose the eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for it.

Which network does the Travelren eSIM use in Mauritius?
Emtel, on 4G. It covers the whole island well, including the resort coasts. After installing, set the APN to e-ideas in the eSIM's mobile data settings, or data won't start. Your order confirmation shows the APN too.
How do I set the APN for Mauritius?
On iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, choose the Mauritius eSIM, Mobile Data Network, then enter e-ideas as the APN. On Android: open the eSIM's Access Point Names, add a new APN and type e-ideas. Save and select it, then restart the phone if data doesn't start.
Will I have signal at Le Morne and Black River Gorges?
At the Le Morne beaches and hotels, yes. Inside Black River Gorges National Park and on the climb up Le Morne Brabant, signal can drop. Download trail maps before you set off.
Does Telstra's International Day Pass cover Mauritius?
No. Mauritius isn't on Telstra's International Day Pass list, checked September 2026, so Telstra customers pay standard roaming rates there. AT&T's International Day Pass covers Mauritius at US$12 a day. A Travelren plan is one price for your trip.
