Network coverage in Denmark

Your Travelren eSIM runs on Three Denmark, with 5G in the cities. Denmark is flat and compact, so coverage is close to complete: Copenhagen, including the metro, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Roskilde are fully covered, as are the trains, the motorways, the Great Belt Bridge and the beaches and summer-house areas along the coast.

Weak spots are rare and mostly indoors. The plan covers Denmark itself. The Faroe Islands and Greenland are separate, and so is Sweden, so crossing the Øresund Bridge to Malmö needs another plan. For a city break or a road trip around the islands, expect the eSIM to work wherever you go.

What works in Denmark

Works well

  • Rejseplanen and DOT tickets for Copenhagen's metro, trains and buses
  • Bike-share and cycle-route navigation
  • Timed-entry tickets for Tivoli and museums
Show 2 more
  • Card payments and banking on the go
  • Video calls and streaming on 5G across the country

Watch out for

  • Covers Denmark only: not Sweden, the Faroe Islands or Greenland
  • Your phone may show the network as 3 rather than Three
  • Data only: no Danish number

Arriving in Denmark

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is about 15 minutes from the city centre by metro or train, and coverage is continuous from the gate. Denmark uses the krone (DKK), not the euro, and is almost cashless: cards and phone wallets work everywhere, and some shops and cafes don't take cash at all.

Copenhagen's metro runs around the clock, and trains link the main cities quickly. Cycling is how many locals get around, with bike lanes that have their own traffic lights and rules. Trains from Copenhagen cross the Øresund Bridge to Malmö in under an hour, and Sweden is where this plan's coverage ends.

Installing your Denmark eSIM

Install your Denmark eSIM before you travel, on WiFi, by scanning the QR code in your order email (iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, Add eSIM; Android: Settings, SIM manager, Add eSIM). No APN setup is needed. When you land at Copenhagen, set the eSIM as your data line and switch on data roaming for it.

If you're heading on to Sweden, install that country's plan too.

Common questions

Which network does the Travelren eSIM use in Denmark?

Three Denmark, with 5G in the cities. Your phone may show it simply as 3. It covers the whole country, including Copenhagen's metro and the trains. The APN sets itself automatically.

Does the eSIM work on a day trip to Malmö?

No. Malmö is in Sweden, and this plan covers Denmark only, so data stops once your phone switches to a Swedish network on or after the Øresund Bridge. Buy a Sweden plan for the day, or a Europe plan that lists both countries.

Does the Denmark plan cover the Faroe Islands or Greenland?

No. Both have their own mobile networks, separate from Denmark's, and this plan doesn't include them. Check whether a plan for the Faroe Islands suits your trip.

How much does Telstra charge to roam in Denmark?

Denmark is in Zone 2 of Telstra's International Day Pass: A$10 a day with 2 GB of data a day, checked September 2026. AT&T's International Day Pass is US$12 a day. A Travelren plan is one payment for your trip.

Show 4 more questions
When does my Denmark plan start?

When your phone first connects to a network in Denmark. Install the eSIM at home and the days start once you land in Copenhagen and connect.

Do I need cash in Denmark?

Rarely, and some places won't accept it. Cards and phone payments work in shops, cafes, taxis and on public transport. Keep a card with contactless enabled and you'll rarely need anything else.

Does the eSIM work in the Copenhagen metro?

Yes. The metro, the S-trains and the regional trains all have mobile coverage, so you can keep navigating, messaging and checking departures underground and between cities.

Is 5G available on the Denmark plan?

Yes, in the cities and larger towns, if your phone supports it. Elsewhere you'll use 4G, which still handles video calls, streaming and navigation easily across the country.
