Network coverage in Fiji
Your Travelren eSIM runs on Digicel, one of Fiji's two mobile networks, on 4G. On Viti Levu that means solid signal around Nadi, Denarau, the Coral Coast, Pacific Harbour and Suva, and along most of the Queens and Kings Roads that link them.
Most Mamanuca resorts off Nadi sit within reach of towers on the main island and nearby islands. Further out it gets patchier: the northern Yasawas, Kadavu, parts of Taveuni and the Lau group can have weak or no signal, and on some outer islands Fiji's other network, Vodafone, reaches places Digicel does not. If you're island-hopping, treat the eSIM as your connection on Viti Levu and in transit rather than something to count on at every bure.

Arriving in Fiji
Most visitors land at Nadi International (NAN) on Viti Levu's west coast, which has mobile coverage, so you can message your transfer before you reach the taxi rank. Fiji uses the Fijian dollar (FJD).

Resorts, larger restaurants and supermarkets take cards, but taxis, local buses, market stalls and village visits run on cash, and the kava you bring as a sevusevu gift for a village visit is bought at the market with cash. ATMs are easy to find in Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka and Suva and scarce on the outer islands, so draw cash before you catch the boat. Resort WiFi ranges from fast to painfully slow, and some resorts charge for it or offer it only in the lobby, which is where your own data earns its keep.
Installing your Fiji eSIM
Install the Fiji eSIM before you fly, while you're on home WiFi; the QR code is in your order email. On iPhone go to Settings, then Mobile Data (Cellular in some regions), then Add eSIM. On Android look for SIM manager under Settings or Connections.

Fiji plans set their own APN, so there's nothing to type in. When you land at Nadi, switch the eSIM on for mobile data, turn on data roaming for that line, and keep your home SIM for calls and texts.
Common questions
Which network does the Travelren eSIM use in Fiji?
Digicel, on 4G. It's one of Fiji's two mobile networks and covers the main tourist areas of Viti Levu, including Nadi, Denarau, the Coral Coast and Suva. The APN sets itself, so once the eSIM is installed and data roaming is on for that line, it connects automatically.
Will I have signal in the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands?
In the Mamanucas, usually yes, because most resorts are within reach of towers on Viti Levu and the surrounding islands. The Yasawa chain stretches much further from the mainland, and coverage there is patchier, especially towards the northern end. Ask your resort about signal before you go, and download maps and bookings before you leave Nadi.
How much does Telstra charge to roam in Fiji?
Fiji is in Zone 1, the lower-priced zone of Telstra's International Day Pass: A$5 a day with 2 GB of data a day, checked September 2026. AT&T's International Day Pass is US$12 a day. A Travelren plan is paid once for the whole trip, so a week at a resort doesn't add a charge for every day you use your phone.
When does my Fiji plan start counting down?
When your phone first connects to a network in Fiji, not when you buy or install it. You can set up the eSIM at home a few days early, leave it switched off, and the plan's days begin once you land and connect.
Show 4 more questions
Can I keep my home number working in Fiji?
Yes. The eSIM carries data only, so your home SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, including bank verification codes. Calls and texts on your home SIM are charged at your carrier's roaming rates unless you switch that line off, which is why many travellers use WhatsApp or FaceTime over the eSIM instead.
Is resort WiFi good enough in Fiji?
It varies a lot from resort to resort. Some have fast connections across the property, while others offer slow WiFi in the lobby only or charge for it. Having your own data means you can video call, upload photos and check transfer times from the beach or your bure without depending on the resort network.
Do I need cash in Fiji?
Yes, some. Cards work in resorts, larger shops and restaurants, but taxis, buses, markets and village visits are mostly cash in Fijian dollars. ATMs are common in Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka and Suva but rare on the outer islands, so withdraw before any boat or small-plane transfer.
Should I buy the eSIM before flying to Fiji?
Yes. Install it at home on WiFi so it's ready when you land at Nadi. Resort transfers and ferry departures often leave within an hour or two of arrival, and having data from the terminal means you can find your driver and message your resort straight away.
