Network coverage in the Czech Republic
Your Travelren eSIM can connect to O2, with 5G in the bigger cities, and to Vodafone on LTE, two of the Czech Republic's three networks. Coverage is excellent in Prague, including the Old Town, Prague Castle and the whole metro, and in Brno, Český Krumlov, Karlovy Vary, Kutná Hora and Olomouc.

The main motorways and rail lines are well covered. Signal can weaken in mountains and forests such as the Krkonoše range, Bohemian Switzerland National Park and the Šumava forest, where deep valleys and sandstone gorges block it. For a city break and most day trips from Prague, you'll barely notice the network.

Arriving in the Czech Republic
Most visitors arrive at Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), about 17 km from the centre, where coverage is strong from the moment you land. The Czech Republic uses the koruna (CZK), not the euro, so when a card terminal or ATM offers to convert to your home currency, decline, as the rate is usually worse.

Cards and contactless are accepted in most restaurants and shops and on public transport. In Prague, one ticket covers the metro, trams and buses, and the PID Lítačka app sells it on your phone. Buses and trains to Český Krumlov, Kutná Hora and Brno are cheap and frequent, making the country easy to explore without a car.
Installing your Czech Republic eSIM
Install your Czech Republic eSIM at home before you go by scanning the QR code from your order email: Settings, Mobile Data, Add eSIM on iPhone, or the SIM manager in Android settings. There's no APN to set. When you land in Prague, switch your mobile data to the eSIM and enable data roaming for it, then download the PID Lítačka app if you plan to use public transport.

Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts, with roaming off to avoid charges.
Common questions
Which networks does the Travelren eSIM use in the Czech Republic?
O2, with 5G in the larger cities, and Vodafone on LTE. Your phone uses whichever signal is stronger, and the APN sets itself, so once data roaming is on for the eSIM line, it connects automatically.
Does the eSIM work in the Prague metro?
Yes. Every station and the tunnels between them have had mobile coverage since 2021, so you can keep navigating, messaging and streaming underground. Trams and buses are covered throughout the city too.
Will I have signal hiking in Bohemian Switzerland?
Around the villages and main viewpoints, such as the Pravčická brána arch, usually. In the deeper gorges and forest sections, signal comes and goes. Download trail maps before you set out, especially if you're walking from Hřensko or taking the gorge boat trips.
How much does Telstra charge to roam in the Czech Republic?
The Czech Republic is in Zone 2 of Telstra's International Day Pass: A$10 a day with 2 GB of data a day, checked September 2026. AT&T's International Day Pass is US$12 a day. With a Travelren plan, you pay once for the trip.

When does my Czech Republic plan start?
When your phone first connects to a network in the Czech Republic. You can install the eSIM at home days in advance, and the plan's days only start once you land in Prague and your phone connects.
Can I use the eSIM on a day trip to Vienna or Dresden?
No. The plan covers the Czech Republic only and stops working at the border. For a trip that includes Austria or Germany, buy a plan for each country, or a Europe plan that lists all of them.
Should I pay in koruna or euros in Prague?
Koruna. Some places in the centre accept euros but give change in koruna at a poor rate. When a card terminal or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency, choose koruna instead, as the conversion it offers is usually more expensive.
Is 5G available on the Czech plan?
Yes, on O2 in larger cities such as Prague and Brno, if your phone supports it. Elsewhere you'll use LTE, which handles video calls, streaming and navigation comfortably.
