Network coverage in Poland

Your Travelren eSIM runs on Play, one of Poland's largest mobile networks, with 5G in the cities. Your phone may show it as P4, the company that runs Play.

Coverage is strong in Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław and Poznań, on the intercity trains and motorways, and at the Baltic coast resorts. The Tatra Mountains are covered in Zakopane and along the main valleys, but signal drops on higher trails, including parts of the route to Morskie Oko and the ridges above it. Rural areas in the east, such as the Białowieża Forest, can have weak spots. For cities and most day trips, the eSIM works wherever you go.

Arriving in Poland

Warsaw Chopin (WAW) and Kraków (KRK) are the main airports, with Gdańsk (GDN) and Wrocław (WRO) also busy. Poland uses the złoty (PLN), not the euro, so choose złoty when a card terminal or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency.

Cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere, including trams and taxis. Trains between the big cities are quick and inexpensive. Visits to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial need an entry pass booked online in advance, and they're often fully booked in summer, so reserve early. Zakopane is the base for the Tatras, about two hours from Kraków. Tipping around 10 per cent is normal in restaurants.

Installing your Poland eSIM

Install your Poland eSIM on WiFi before you fly by scanning the QR code from your order email (iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, Add eSIM; Android: Settings, SIM manager, Add eSIM). It configures its own APN. When you land in Warsaw or Kraków, make the eSIM your data line and turn on data roaming for it.

Common questions

Which network does the Travelren eSIM use in Poland?

Play, one of Poland's largest networks, with 5G in the cities. Your phone may show it as P4, the company that runs Play. The APN sets itself, so it connects once data roaming is on for the eSIM line.

Will I have signal in the Tatra Mountains?

In Zakopane and along the main valleys, yes. Higher up, including parts of the route to Morskie Oko and the ridges, signal can drop. Download trail maps and check the weather before you set off.

How much does Telstra charge to roam in Poland?

Poland is in Zone 2 of Telstra's International Day Pass: A$10 a day with 2 GB of data a day, checked September 2026. AT&T's International Day Pass is US$12 a day. A Travelren plan is one payment for the trip.

When does my Poland plan start?

When your phone first connects to a network in Poland. Installing the eSIM at home doesn't use any days, so the plan starts once you land and connect.

Show 4 more questions
Do I need to book Auschwitz-Birkenau in advance?

Yes. Entry passes for the memorial are booked online, and summer dates often sell out weeks ahead. Having data on the day helps with directions from Kraków and access to your booking.

Should I pay in złoty or euros?

Złoty. Poland doesn't use the euro, and when a card machine or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency, choosing złoty is almost always cheaper.

Will the Poland plan work in Czechia or Germany?

No. It covers Poland only, so crossing into Czechia, Slovakia or Germany needs another plan, or a Europe plan that lists every country on your route.

Is 5G available on the Poland plan?

Yes, in the cities and larger towns, if your phone supports it. Elsewhere you'll use 4G, which still handles video calls, navigation and streaming well on trains and in the countryside.
