Network coverage in Finland
Your Travelren eSIM runs on DNA, one of Finland's three national networks, with 5G in the cities. Finland has excellent coverage for a country of lakes and forest: Helsinki, Turku, Tampere and Oulu are fully covered, as are the trains, main roads and most lake-district towns.

In Lapland, Rovaniemi, Levi, Saariselkä and Ivalo are covered, while wilderness areas, national park trails and remote lakes can have gaps. Signal on the ferries to Tallinn and Stockholm holds near the Finnish coast and then hands over to other countries' networks. For cities and resorts, expect data wherever you go.

Arriving in Finland
Helsinki Airport (HEL) is linked to the city by a train that takes about 30 minutes, and Rovaniemi (RVN) and Kittilä (KTT) are the usual gateways to Lapland. Finland uses the euro, and cards and phone payments are accepted almost everywhere, including saunas, markets and taxis.

The HSL app sells tickets for Helsinki's trams, buses, metro and the ferry to Suomenlinna. Ferries to Tallinn take around two hours, making Estonia a popular day trip. Winter days in Lapland are short, and temperatures can drop well below minus 20, which drains phone batteries quickly, so carry a power bank. In summer, the midnight sun means long days for hiking and lake trips.
Installing your Finland eSIM
Install your Finland eSIM on WiFi before you fly by scanning the QR code from your order email (iPhone: Settings, Mobile Data, Add eSIM; Android: Settings, SIM manager, Add eSIM). The APN sets itself. On landing in Helsinki or Lapland, choose the eSIM for mobile data and switch on data roaming for it.

In winter, keep your phone warm and carry a power bank, since cold drains batteries quickly.
Common questions
Which network does the Travelren eSIM use in Finland?
DNA, with 5G in the cities. It covers the cities, trains, main roads and the Lapland resort towns. The APN sets itself, so it connects once data roaming is on for the eSIM line.
Will I have signal in Lapland?
In Rovaniemi, Levi, Saariselkä, Ivalo and the other resort towns, yes. On wilderness trails and at remote cabins, signal can drop. Tour operators running husky and snowmobile trips carry their own communications, but download maps if you head out alone.
Does the eSIM work on the ferry to Tallinn?
Near the Finnish coast, yes. Partway across, your phone moves onto Estonian networks, which this plan doesn't cover. If you're spending the day in Tallinn, buy an Estonia plan or a Europe plan that lists both countries.
How much does Telstra charge to roam in Finland?
Finland is in Zone 2 of Telstra's International Day Pass: A$10 a day with 2 GB of data a day, checked September 2026. AT&T's International Day Pass is US$12 a day. A Travelren plan is paid once for your trip.
Show 4 more questions
When does my Finland plan start?
When your phone first connects to a network in Finland. Installing the eSIM at home doesn't start the clock, so the days begin once you land.
Does cold weather affect my phone in Lapland?
It can. Very low temperatures drain batteries fast and can switch a phone off at what looks like 30 per cent. Keep the phone in an inside pocket, carry a power bank, and warm it up before relying on it.
Do I need cash in Finland?
Rarely. Cards and phone payments work almost everywhere, including small cafes and market stalls. A little cash can help in remote Lapland villages, but most tour operators take cards.
Is 5G available on the Finland plan?
Yes, in the cities and larger towns, if your phone supports it. Elsewhere you'll use 4G, which is fast enough for navigation, streaming and video calls.
Europe regional plan
